A Week in Memphis

After Chattanooga, we headed to Memphis for the week. J.Ed was able to fly in and out of there for work so it was perfect. It is always noce to head there with nothing going on so that we don't feel rushed and over planned all week.

J.Ed, Poppy and Robbins went to watch Fred Allen Meyer play in the US Open qualifier. He is 17!! J.Ed use to work at his parent's golf course in high school and college and they are some of the Lowe families dearest friends. Only the top 10 from this event are going on to this week's Open and he was in the top 35 or so out of 100+ players including pros!! Even though he didn't advance, we are so proud of him. He is commited to play golf at UK, which makes J.Ed especially happy.

While we were there, Robbins also took swim lessons. He started off the summer a little skiddish about going under water, which was strange b/c the last 2 summers have been nothing but big jumps off the side of the pool. One day with Mrs. Donna(a friend from high school's mom) and he was back to his old fish self. I have a video at the bottom of him jumping off the diving board too. She is AMAZING. The weather was great while we were there. The humidity hadn't struck yet(has now!!) so we did a lot of playing outside. 

These three were quite the baseball team with Poppy as the pitcher and my brother as the hitting coach. It's funny how you teach your kids your preferences. J.Ed was a soccer player so that is what we always play at our house, and golf occassionally. My dad and brother are big baseball guys so that was what they do and some golf.

We went to dinner with the Clark's at Mellow Mushroom and it was great catching up with them. Clearly, I was exciting dinner company for sweet Conley.

Celebrating William's 4th Birthday!!

We had a love/hate relationship with the sand box as in she loved it, I hated it. Not really, but I hated cleaning all the sand out of her crevases later and trying to keep her from literally rolling in it.

On our last night we had our traditional dinner at Elfo's with the Bennett's and Harrison's. The Clark's were out of town and we missed them!!

As always, 4 hours and quite a bit of wine and laughter later, a great time was had by all.

We were on the road 5 minutes and they both passed out. I think they had a great week!

When we got home J.Ed and I rushed to change because we were going to see two INCREDIBLE groups at the Ryman that night. Do yourself a favor and if you have a chance to see Shovels & Rope or Dawes live, do it!! We have really been trying to take advantage of living in Music City and going to as many shows as possible. Summer is perfect b/c our favorite babysitter is home from college and makes herself available to us all the time. We are really enjoying not only the music, but the time together doing something we both love. Hope everyone else's summer's are off to a great start!
