4 months

How is this sweet baby 4 months old already! It is going by to fast. But to be honest she is moving in to that, I am actually a human stage which I really love because you start to see the personality and start to experience a (little bit) of normalcy. She is eating like a horse, since my last post she has jumped to 7 oz. and is eating oatmeal b/c the Dr. thinks she is letting us know she is ready for solids by how much she is drinking. She had a great Dr. appt and took her shots like a champ.

She is talking more and more and loves watching her big brother perform for her. She is laughing and cracks up when you blow strawberries on her belly. She like sitting up much more than laying down but we still have a ways to go before she can sit up on her own but she loves being propped up or in her bumbo. We did the dreaded cry it out weekend a few weeks ago and she did so well and has done great ever since. As much as I love holding her, holding her for every nap was wearing on me not to mention Robbins was getting a tad jealous of her always being in my arms. I forgot how much you can get done with two arms free. She is still waking up in the middle of the night, usually once, so this week we stopped feeding her when she wakes up. The Dr. said she is getting than enough during the day and we can just break the habit in an effort to get her to sleep. I have noticed her giving up easier since Sunday and putting herself back to sleep. Hopefully(fingers crossed) we are on our way to sleeping through he night. We know she can do it b/c for about 7 glorious days she did it every night.

We are still loving her nannies and feel really blessed to have found 2 precious ladies to take care of her. To say they are getting attached is an understatement. We are pretty boring around here, just enjoying this weather, both of us are crazy busy at work, and gearing up for a busy Spring. I swear we have plans from now until June, but looking forward to all the fun to come.

Words

I have always been told and truly believe that words are powerful. Words have the power to breathe life and death, hope or hate. I am the type of person that words make or break me. A word of encouragement is fuel to my fire of motivation and words of negativity quickly squash the flame. I was reminded last night of the power of words at a concert last night. J. Ed and I went to see Mumford & Sons for his birthday last night and it was great. I have been really struggling with guilt over leaving the kids after work(another post in itself:)) but we got these tickets ages ago and any band at the Ryman, the mother church of Country music, is always great.

J.Ed makes fun of me because I base how much I like a band more by what they say then by what they sound like. Don't get me wrong if someone can't sing they can't sing but nothing moves me more then a beautiful voice singing beautiful words. I mean I literally cry every Sunday during worship, the words just move me. Back to my point though, M&S is known for their great sounds and very deep lyrics. Some I agree with and some I don't. But last night during a few of their songs I was reminded of the power words have over people. While I am not sure they mean for their lyrics to breathe spiritual life, they do for me. I googled them to see their spiritual stance and this is what they say.:

"The lyrics for Sigh No More he describes as "a deliberately spiritual thing but deliberately not a religious thing. I think faith is something beautiful, and something real, and something universal, or it can be." He gestures around the table at his bandmates. "We all have our separate views on religion, but I think faith is something to be celebrated. I have my own personal views, they're still real to me, and I want to write about them."

So I am not sure if we are thinking of the same thing when he and I sing the lyrics but last night I saw an entire room of people captured by the words talking about the greatest love and it will not betray you but set you free, for me it became a time of worship, not of the band in front of me and their immense talent on stage but of my heavenly father who whether that crowd realized it or not was there. Why so serious today you ask? I don't know but something last night moved me and I felt compelled to share. I think it is a good reminder to me of the power my words hold over other people and the effect they can have. I hope today I choose to breathe life and encouragement into others as opposed to the contrary. Below are some of their lyrics that really stick with me.

Sigh No More

Serve God, love me and mend

This is not the end

Lived unbruised, we are friends

And I'm sorry I'm sorry

Sigh no more, no more

Love, it will not betray you

Dismay or enslave you, it will set you free

Be more like the man you were made to be

There is a design, an alignment, a cry

Of my heart to see

The beauty of love as it was made to be

Awake My Soul

Lend me your hand and we'll conquer them all

But lend me your heart and I'll just let you fall

Lend me your eyes I can change what you see

But your soul you must keep, totally

In these bodies we will live,

in these bodies we will die

Where you invest your love,

you invest your life

awake my soul...awake my soul...awake my soul...

All acoustic in the Ryman-yes please

The First Supper

So after Landry's 4 month appointment the Dr. recommended starting rice cereal because my little chunk is eating ALOT of milk and he thinks she is letting us know she is ready for more. Tonight was our fist attempt and shocker she woofed it down! Seriously, she didn't even push it out with her tongue. I will be posting a 4 month post asap!

Robbins and Reno

Robbins loves his Uncle Reno and his girlfriend Bryn so much! Everytime they come over, he goes nuts and then cries when they leave. It is so nice having them in the same town as us and we are going to be pretty bummed if he gets a job somewhere else after he graduates from Belmont in May. The video below pretty much ums up their time together:)

We have a roller

How is she growing so fast?! Today at Mrs. Beth's she rolled from her stomach to her back. Apparently she scared herself because when she rolled over she got the big eyes look and then started pouting. Love this sweet girl!

Lent

Read this today about Lent and sacrafice and loved it! A great reminder of why we sacrafice this Easter season.

"The Israelites who ruined their grain, cows, doves and sheep in sacrifice did so because they believed in the craziest of all hopes—that this destruction of what is good would ultimately bring about something even better. When they sacrificed their animals and foods, it was a way of saying out loud and from the core of their being that they trusted in God, that they themselves were not capable of providing what they needed or what the world needed, but God was. They believed in a God who was so very much in charge of the universe that He would make the world a better place in spite of their loss. Sacrifice was about giving honor, about giving to something bigger than yourself in the trust that blessings come when you don’t put “me” first all the time."

I mean...nailed it! To read the entire article click here: http://www.relevantmagazine.com/god/deeper-walk/features/28361-why-practicing-lent-is-crazy
